Capture That Priceless Feeling That Money Can't Buy
This Week's Simple Tip
One of the things that makes me smile at this time of year is the sound of the Salvation Army holiday bell-ringers collecting at many store fronts. Volunteers oversee the red kettles each year to raise funds to do good in the community and help change lives for the better. Conventional thinkers have suggested all along that happiness is found in helping others, whether it be with a job on the front-line, or regularly donating time or money. But multiple research efforts show that helping others regularly produces significant health benefits as well. Helping has effects similar to those many people experience when they exercise. You may have heard of a 'runner's high?' This similar effect is known as a 'helper's high,' as findings show that giving produces endorphins in the brain that provide a mild version of a morphine high. Winston Churchill once said: We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give. We all want a meaningful life. The only way that happens is to create it through our actions. It starts with looking for ways to help others.
This Week's Focus
This week, give back and help others. You don't have to look far to find where help is needed. You may even have a neighbor in need. Two things to keep in mind: 1) Find a cause that you are passionate about; and 2) Commit to showing up to help on a regular basis.

A Little Helpful Hint
Some people question why others use their special gifts to help when there are no obvious rewards to the giver. What they cannot see is the intangible 'feel good' emotion the giver receives. Enjoy this touching clip that shows how by giving you receive what money cannot buy.
