Do You Hate Saying No?

This Week's Simple Tip:


This week I started watching Netflix's newest hit series 'Sweet Magnolias,' about three South Carolina women who shepherd each other through the complexities of romance, career, and family. At one point one of the women is questioning her future in a discussion with her mother who gently reminds her that "You chart your own path. If you want to do it, do it. If you think it's a crazy idea, tell them."



This is important to remember as things begin to reopen again, and we are likely to find ourselves in situations where we may not yet feel comfortable to do certain things. We need to remind ourselves that it's OK to say "No" to anyone if a request interferes with our beliefs, goals, passions, or even our schedule.


It is up to each of us to protect our comfort boundaries, and be true to our self. No explanation is necessary ... just a simple "no." If you need help, here are  50 Ways to Say NO.  Just remember, the people who really matter in your life will respect your decision.

This week, remind yourself that it is perfectly okay to say "No" when you feel uncomfortable about an opportunity in which you are invited to participate.
