Are You A Lifeguard?
This Week's Simple Tip
Finally we are seeing some glimmer of hope amidst the heaviness of uncertainty and upheaval of the past year. Yet my personal prayer list and those around me who could benefit from warm soup are more plentiful than ever. You don't have to look far to find people suffering with COVID, other illnesses, grieving, loneliness, etc. I like the quote below as it is a good reminder that we all have times when we could use the help of others.

People are not likely to ask for help so we need to learn to listen from the heart. We all come into this world knowing how to recognize such basic emotions like sadness, anger, love or fear. Sadly there are people who focus all of their insights towards themselves: “I feel,” “I need,” and “I want.” But to listen from the heart, we must look outwardly in order to sense when a person's cheery words are hiding a tear about to fall from their eyes. We all have something to offer others: a listening ear, a run to the grocery store, a prayer, a bowl of warm soup, a greeting card, etc. Goodness is natural in humans; helping others helps ourselves. Look around ... see who you can give love and support to. Remember, the goodness that comes from the heart is the only investment that can never go bankrupt.
This Week's Focus:
This week, ask yourself each morning “whom can I give love and support to?” The greatest reward is to feel useful. Don't turn your head and pretend not to see that someone else is in need.
