Do You Have the Courage?
I will be the first one to admit that I hate to ask someone for help. Besides believing that I am independent and should be able to take care of myself, I figure that everyone is already busy enough.
But ironically, I absolutely LOVE being able to help others. I actually pray each day that God shows me how I can help Him. It seems that I am always blessed with plenty of opportunities!

Somewhere in life, I must have learned that asking for help is a weakness. Sadly that "lesson" must be pretty widespread as I know LOTS of people hate to ask for help.
Let's reevaluate asking for help. What if we were to take the shame out of it, and regard it as a strength rather than a weakness? After all, it takes courage and vulnerability to ask.
We actually should be excited about asking for help because human beings are basically wired to want to give help. It's one of the richest sources of self-esteem, and it has the potential to be a real win-win. Helping can be rewarding for people, both the givers and receivers.
When was the last time you were asked for help and did not feel good after providing it?
So next time you need help, think about the fact that you are being strong enough to give someone an opportunity to feel good about themselves!
