Do You Resist Change?

My husband and I recently returned from a bucket list trip to Alberta, Canada. The countryside was stunningly beautiful, especially after a fresh dusting of snow.

One of the intriguing things we saw were wildlife crossings along the Trans-Canada Highway. The crossings resemble grassy hilltops, dotted with trees and flowers. They arch over the highway and serve as a passageway for the area’s animals.

It made me wonder how the animals adapted to using these crossings? Apparently it was immediate and natural for coyote and deer, while other species had a longer learning curve. But once routes are established, it becomes intergenerational knowledge.

It reminds me of humans ... some adapt to change more naturally and quickly than others. Change brings about something different, which means something unknown. Many of us, just like the late adapter species to the wildlife crossings, are fearful of the unknown.

Fortunately as humans, we have a way to overcome our fear of change. Because our fear of change is based on the stories, both real and imagined that we tell ourselves, we can often control our outcomes. This is REALLY IMPORTANT to understand. Check out how simple this is!

The only thing constant in life is change. We cannot avoid it and the more we resist change the tougher our life becomes. However, if we learn to eliminate fear of the changes that will occur, life becomes much easier.

This Week's Focus:

This week, instead of resisting change, welcome it knowing that you have a lot of control over the outcome.
