Shush! Can You Hear It?

Have you noticed that it has gotten much noisier now that things have gotten busier again?

It became very noticeable while I was walking this morning. Each time there was a gap in the cars passing by, I could hear the sound of silence. The little snippets of that beautiful sound left me wanting more.

Silence means different things to different people. Whether it means a break from the sounds of whining children, machinery, sirens, traffic, planes, etc., noise pollution is a stress from which we all need relief.

In the same way that noise can cause tension and stress, silence releases tension from the brain. According to research, sitting in silence for about two minutes can be more beneficial than listening to 'relaxing music' because of the way it changes blood circulation and pressure in the brain.

Why not give yourself a regular gift of silence ... it only takes two minutes!

This Week's Focus:

This week, be mindful of the NOISE in your life. Make a point of capturing two minutes of silence somewhere ... you don't have to go far. Chances are it will become something you crave!

Click on the serenity sticky to print, cut and post on your bathroom mirror to remind you of this week's focus. Good luck!
