What Keeps Us Alive?

In many parts of the world, we have entered the time of year when we find ourselves more focused on trees. The trees are turning beautiful maroon, red and gold, before the trees begin to lose their leaves.

But there is another interesting thing to notice about trees. There is a striking comparison between lungs and trees! Our lungs branch out, just as all trees branch out.

And interestingly, a beautiful symbiotic relationship exists between our lungs and the trees. Humans breathe oxygen into our lungs and breathe out CO2, while trees breathe in CO2, and breathe out oxygen. Trees function as the lungs of the earth. They help the planet breathe by turning carbon dioxide into clean, pure oxygen. Without plants in general, and trees specifically, we would not have oxygen. Go outside and breathe in some of that wonderful oxygen from nature!

This Week's Focus:

This week, take a moment to look up in a tree. Breathe and reflect on what a difference each and every leaf makes!

Click on the serenity sticky to print, cut and post on your bathroom mirror to remind you of this week's focus. Good luck!
