What Lesson Have You Learned?

Have you ever thought about why we have tests in school and for certifications?

A test accomplishes two things. First, it creates a reason to work hard preparing for the test. And second, it allows the test taker and others to see what they are capable of and how much they have learned.

The same is true with life's tests. After all, isn’t life full of tests? First, life’s tests force us to put in the effort, to struggle, and to work hard. Second, by working through trying situations we reveal our hidden value to ourselves and others. Recently when I was "tested" by a person I find particular challenging, the lesson I learned was the importance and value of compassion versus judgment. The result was being more present and calm during our time together, and therefore having a more easygoing interaction. Life is full of tests with lessons if we are willing to learn them! What lessons have you learned lately?
