Why Does That Person Annoy You?

This Week's Simple Tip

This week's tip is being shared with you because just in the last two weeks, I've had the opportunity to share it with 3-4 others. To me, that's a sign to spread it more widely :) Here goes ...

Widowed for six years, my friend recently told me about her new relationship. Although it did not last, she was grateful for learning to love again. The breakup was not about loss or sadness; rather it was how love and joy revitalized her life.

When she finished her story, I responded that he had obviously come into her life to teach her reassurance and confidence in future relationships.

Everything and everyone in life is your teacher. Some will inspire you, elevate you or entertain you. Others will annoy you, bring you down or bore you. But they will all teach you something and guide you along your path.

I learned this life-changing lesson while practicing Buddhist meditation applied to everyday life. It puts a very different spin on how you interpret the things and people that occur in your life. We just need to be good students and recognize that things happen FOR us and not TO us.

As human beings, we have two jobs: the one of the exploring student, and the one of the influencing teacher. All we have to do is keep exploring life, and try to make a mark on everyone we meet with acceptance, support and compassion.

This Week's Focus:

This week, notice how you react to things and people. Ask yourself "what am I supposed to be learning from this?" Be a good student and learn from situations in your life.

Click on the serenity sticky to print, cut and post on your bathroom mirror to remind you of this week's focus. Good luck!
